Hanging Lake, CO

So the day before this we had hiked 6 miles at Deer Mountain. The next morning, on our way to Moab, UT, we stopped at Glennwood Springs to hike Hanging Lake. It is situated in the middle of a canyon.
The hike started off really steep and rocky. It reminded us of hiking in PA. Our legs were sore from the day before, but I knew this hike would be worth the pain.

The killer about this hike was the snow and ice. I just didn't expect snow in April, but now I do. We had to go slow, being careful not to slip on the steep slope.

We finally made it to a very steep set of steps that looked out on the canyon. A man took our picture. Just after the steps is when you you can either bear to the left or right. To the right is the lake, to the left is a view of waterfall that feeds the lake.

The waterfall that feeds Hanging Lake

"Layer of travertine, formed over millennia from deposits of dissolved limestone, line the lake and shoreline and give the clear water its stunning aqua color." There were a few fish in the lake (Pictured below). You aren't allowed in the lake so as not to disturb the geologic wonder of it.
The difficult hike was so worth it! The scenery before your eyes was so incredible and picturesque that you forgot about how bad your legs hurt...that is until you started to descend.
