My new favorite hidden gem, Chanticleer

Chanticleer is a garden. It used to be some one's home and they turned the property into gardens open to the public so the land wouldn't go to developers.
With sprawling lawns, amazing flowers and plants, incredible vignettes, and Adirondack chairs scattered all over, it's the kind of place you want to stroll around, bring a book and relax the day away.
We went on a Saturday afternoon when the weather was perfect and it really wasn't crowded. The kids loved it! They ran around, discovered "secret" paths, and played in the water feature. It's the kind of place that is fun for everyone!
I told Dave I want to go back for our anniversary next month, bring our Bibles and a picnic lunch, and just relax, read, stroll around and remember how crazy we are about each other.

This is a stone couch with remote control.

Chanticleer is open 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. The garden is also open on Friday evenings until 8:00 p.m. from May through Labor Day. The 2013 season begins on
April 3rd and ends on November 3rd.

Back to City life

So what have the Brindley's been up to for the past month?

Sccotering around the neighborhood

The wooden slide at Smith Playground

Painting race cars and rainbows

Making a new chalkboard for out back

Enjoying summer's last days at Sister Cities
Honestly, my goal is to fill our days with something so we all don't go crazy. I'm counting down the days till Lilia's first day of 1st grade and Alex's mornings at preschool.
Next week we will be at my parent's house for 4 days, which will be great. The kids have friends who live next door, there is lots of green grass to play in just out the door, and I can sneak away to the coffee shop to spend time with God. I'm really looking forward to it, and I know the kids will have a blast!

Back to normal

Well it's been almost two weeks since we've gotten home. I think we've settled in nicely.
For me, the weather has helped me transition well. Weather affects me greatly. The fact that we came home to 80 degree weather, low humidity, and the windows open made it feel like Colorado weather.
The kids are having a little more trouble, well really just Lilia. She complains about the city a lot. After a long weekend at my parent's house in the "country" she cried for a straight 20 minutes about hating the city. Oh boy!
We've had lots of fun diving into our favorite places like Smith playground, Sister Cities, and the new play area at Eakins Oval.
We're getting back to life here by preparing for school starting, scheduling play dates and getting quality time with family.
